TEFL jobs in Saudi Arabia

If you’re interested in experiencing the fascinating Middle East, the jobs on offer in Saudi Arabia provide an amazing opportunity to live and work in the Arabic world. Teachers are usually treated exceptionally well and the benefit packages offered by many schools are enviable to say the least, including free furnished accommodation and round-trip airfare. High salaries give you an excellent chance to save money while you teach, making it a great stopgap for teachers who want a one-year contract to let their funds grow, though bear in mind that it’s not uncommon to see 2-year minimum contracts .

Where to find work in Saudi Arabia

Many teachers seeking employment in Saudi Arabia apply through a well-known recruitment agency rather than going directly to a school. Agencies are often looking for TEFL qualified teachers with pervious experience. Stay away from recruiters that charge a fee – recruitment agencies take a commission from the clients, not the candidates, and while there are many reputable companies there are sure to be a few sharks out there too.

On the right, we list some of the best-known recruitment agencies operating for the Saudi market. Also, be prepared to plan your trip in advance – it’s not uncommon for it to take three or four months from the time of your agency interview to actually find a job and get your feet on the ground. The benefits of going with a recruitment agency, particularly for early-career teachers, is that you’ll usually get assistance with the visa process and booking your flights, and there should also be some degree of screening which means that the agency has checked you’ll be going to a decent school. Bear in mind that you won’t be able to get a visa if you’re aged over 60. It’s also worth bearing in mind the advice that you should have any documents translated into English before signing – if you can’t read it, don’t sign it!
