Interview with an EFL Teacher: Megan, The Candid Nomad

You may have heard that we recently held our very first Facebook Live session with Megan, The Candid Nomad!

Megan completed her TEFL qualification with us back in 2013, and has been busy teaching around the world in Chile, Austria, Spain, Slovenia, and here in the UK ever since.

She talked to us about her TEFL experience in Madrid, sharing helpful tips and insights into life and work in Spain. As well as answering our questions, she took questions that had been sent in before and during the broadcast about teaching as a dyslexic person, how her teaching style has developed, how easy it is to find private tutoring work, and more.

We've put together some short clips from the interview and if you'd like to check out the full interview you can do so over on Facebook!

Spain is one of the most popular TEFL destinations, so it was encouraging to hear Megan talk about the huge demand for English teachers in the city. It didn't take long before she was in a position where she had to start turning down work! You can check out current vacancies in the country here .

Don't let dyslexia deter you from getting TEFL qualified, Megan told us - having mild dyslexia herself hasn't stopped her from becoming a successful teacher!

"I don’t think I would have been as good a teacher had I not had that knowledge before I went" - Megan explains why getting TEFL qualified was so important for preparing her to teach English.

We're excited about holding more Facebook Live sessions in the future and giving you the opportunity to question TEFL experts and benefit from their insights. If you have any ideas about who you would like to see us interview next comment to let us know!
